We make it simple to validate customer age with ePay. Just add a couple of extra fields when you initialize the payment in ePay.

These fields define the required age to validate and whether it should be tied to a specific customer.

Benefits of letting ePay handle age verification include:

• Requires minimal webshop changes and saves you development costs.
• We negotiated sharp MitID pricing, so you avoid setting up your own agreements with MitID vendors.
• We offer a wide range of payment modules that already support age verification.
• We optimized the flow with intelligent logic for when MitID is needed, improving conversion.

When you verify age through ePay, we minimize friction for your customers to keep conversion high.

There are 2 possible flows depending on the selected payment method.

• MobilePay: MobilePay already knows the customer's age, so the flow continues without MitID. If the requirement is not met, the payment is declined in the MobilePay/Vipps app. If approved, the payment completes as normal.
• Credit cards, etc.: The customer is redirected inside the payment window and informed that age verification is required. They log in with MitID to verify their age. If the requirement is not met, the payment cannot be completed. If approved, they proceed and finish.

We store the verification result at ePay so you can document that age was validated.

💡 There is an extra cost of 0,10 EUR per age verification via MitID. This covers our MitID expenses.

We make it easy for customers to shop again. ePay can store the age verification result so the customer does not need to verify again next time.

You can do this in two ways:

• Send the result to your webshop: After verification, the result can be posted back to your webshop and stored on the customer profile. This requires your webshop to accept the result. Next time the customer shops, no new verification is needed.
• Link the result to a unique customer ID: Send a unique customer ID when you initialize the payment. ePay stores it with the age verification result. Next time, send the same ID and ePay will match the customer and reuse the result.

Simple for both you and your customers.

Start by enabling age verification in your ePay administration. Then choose one of the following:

• Use one of our plugins: Age verification is already built into several plugins (Magento 2, WooCommerce & WooCommerce Subscriptions & Shopify). Just enable it.
• Integrate directly with our API: If you integrate directly, include 1 - 3 extra parameters when initializing the payment. See the docs here.
• Enable for all orders: If you cannot integrate yourself, you can enable age verification on all orders.

We built a demo so you can test the flow using your own MitID.

Click the button below to start the flow. We run a 1.50 DKK amount but do not capture it.

Note that you will not be asked for MitID when choosing MobilePay because MobilePay already knows the age.

If you sell tobacco products, substitutes, herbal smoking products, e-cigarettes or alcohol, you are responsible for not selling to minors.

You may not sell:

• Tobacco products, substitutes or herbal smoking products to persons under 18 years
• E-cigarettes and refill containers with or without nicotine to persons under 18 years
• Alcohol above 6% to persons under 18 years
• Alcohol at 6% or below to persons under 16 years

Before choosing a product, customers must be shown a graphic with the legal age restrictions for tobacco, tobacco substitutes, herbal smoking products and/or e-cigarettes and refill containers/e-liquids.
