Security at ePay

High security for online payments

In Denmark, strict requirements are placed on companies approved for online trading, including payment gateways such as ePay. And that’s a good thing – it ensures that your customers can feel safe when shopping in your web store.

ePay is, of course, certified according to the PCI standard, which requires compliance with more than 200 security points. You can read more about that below.

We continuously develop our payment solutions and always use the latest web technologies. All our systems are monitored around the clock, and we have an external backup system to ensure that we never lose important information. All communication related to payments and card data is, of course, encrypted.

What is the PCI Standard?

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard – commonly known as the PCI standard – was established in 2005 at the initiative of Visa and MasterCard. The goal was to raise the level of security for online card payments and create unified security requirements across the payment card industry.

The PCI standard defines a wide range of requirements for how we and other providers of payment solutions handle, store, and transmit customers’ card data.

Both ePay and other Danish companies that handle card data are subject to the PCI standard, and since most Danish Dankort cards today are combined with Visa, the same security standard also applies to Dankort.

Security When You Pay

When you pay through ePay, the payment will always take place via a secure connection (SSL). You can see that the connection is secure by looking for the padlock icon in your browser and checking that the web address (URL) starts with https://. This means that your card details are encrypted and cannot be read by others.

Payments will always be made either through the webshop’s own domain – where ePay functions as an integrated part of the site – or via ePay’s own payment page:
https://payments.epay.eu / https://ssl.ditonlinebetalingssystem.dk/

ePay employees will never contact you directly and ask for your card details. If you receive a message from someone claiming to be from ePay requesting your card information, you should reject it and contact ePay immediately.
